In chapters six and seven of the book of Esther, Mordecai is remembered for his good deed towards the king, when the king's chamberlain were plotting against him and was sought for to be honored and promoted. While the enemy is busy plotting against you, the Lord will take a situation that is meant for bad and make it good. We see that here between Mordecai and Haman.
The same person that the enemy was using to try to destroy Mordecai, was the same person the Lord used to promote him. Isn't that something! We see that in Esther 6:6-10. Haman requested that all these things be done to the man the king wanted to honor because he thought it would be for himself, only to find out it was for Mordecai. Haman was another one full of pride and that too was his downfall (Proverbs 16:18). This is the perfect example of the Lord preparing a table in the presence of our enemies. The whole time the enemy will think they have an upper hand on you, while persecuting you, when the Lord's wrath has been kindled against them for their evil doings unto you.
Another thing that will happen, is that the Lord will put your enemies to shame as he is preparing that table in their presence. At the very moment Mordecai received the royal apparel and horse the king rides upon, Haman knew that he had been demoted. Haman going to his house with his head covered mourning, symbolized the shame. This behavior was common when someone was being demoted from a position. We can see this also in 2 Chronicles 26:19-21, when King Uzziah is being removed as king.
When you are the Lord's anointed, He will not allow anything to prevail against you. Zeresh, Haman's wife, and the wise men, realized this as they were talking to Haman. Isaiah 54:17 says, 'No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper, and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgement thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me , saith the Lord." This is exactly what happened in Mordecai's situation. The weapons had formed but God did not allow them to prosper. The fasting and praying the Jews did collectively, also helped with this. When it comes to our strong enemies, we have to keep ourselves in righteousness and know that whatever weapons they try to form against you will not prosper and that God's Word stands to be true. If anything they better be sore afraid to mess with the Lord's anointed because He will vindicate and recompense on their behalf in perfect timing. Here's another scripture to reference, 1 Chronicles 16:20-22. That's something to think about for those who try to plot wickedness against a child of God.
Haman comes to the banquet and Queen Esther makes her request that her life and the rest of the Jew's lives be spared. When the king asks who is behind this, she tells him that wicked Haman. Notice how his favor with the king was removed at the moment Mordecai was crowned and promoted. Haman wanted Esther to show mercy on him when he wouldn't show mercy unto Mordecai and the Jews, even when favor was shown to him when he first came to the banquet, being that Esther knew of his plot against Mordecai and the Jews. Isaiah 26:10 says," Let favour be shewed to the wicked, yet will he not learn righteousness: in the land of uprightness will he deal unjustly, and will not behold the majesty of the LORD." There are some people that no matter what you do or how kind you are to them, they still have evil set out in their hearts towards you to bring harm persecution, or oppression to you and who gladly will operate in deceit in all their dealings. These are the kind of people Isaiah 26 is talking about. Anyhow, the pit that he dug for Mordecai, ended up being the one he fell into and was hung on the gallows instead. The king's wrath was pacified afterwards. This tells me that the Lords wrath will not be pacified until he deals with our enemies who plot against us. These are things the Lord hates and anyone who operates like this will be dealt with eventually. (Ecclesiates 8:11, Proverbs 6:12-15, Proverbs 6:16-19). I pray this read was very edifying.
